JAMMU: As part of an educational and patriotic excursion, 33 NCC cadets of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu, visited the Suchetgarh Border on August 8, 2026, through the RAAHI Hop-On Hop-Off Bus launched by the Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir. The excursion was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Naveen Anand, Principal, GCW Parade, and under the supervision of Dr. Nitu Sharma, NCC In-charge.
The visit aimed at providing the cadets with an opportunity to explore an important border tourism destination and gain first-hand exposure to the spirit of patriotism and national service. During the visit, the NCC cadets attended the Retreat Ceremony at Suchetgarh Border, witnessing the ceremonial lowering of the national flags and the impressive parade by the security personnel.
The ceremony left the cadets deeply inspired and instilled in them a renewed sense of pride, discipline and devotion towards the nation. Dr. Naveen Anand appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of experiential learning and exposure visits in the overall development of students. Dr. Nitu Sharma also lauded the enthusiasm and discipline displayed by the NCC cadets throughout the visit. The excursion proved to be an enriching and memorable experience for the cadets, combining patriotic learning, tourism awareness and experiential education.
