- DC calls for mass participation in district-wide activities aimed at strengthening spirit of unity
PULWAMA: The inaugural event of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign–2026 was held today at Tral with the organisation of a mega Tiranga rally, marking the beginning of the campaign being observed from August 9 to August 17, in integration with the third phase of the commemoration of 150 years of the National Song “Vande Mataram.” The rally brought together people from all walks of life in a vibrant display of unity, patriotism and national pride under the Tricolour.
Led by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, the rally saw the participation of MLA Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naik; SSP Awantipora, Sajad Ahmad Shah; ADC Tral, Sajid Yahya Naqash; ADC Pulwama, Dr. S.M Ashraf; Commandant CRPF 180 Bn in addition to other district and sectoral officers and officials of the district administration, police and paramilitary forces. It witnessed enthusiastic participation of citizens, including elected representatives, senior citizens, families of martyrs, students, youth, social activists, NGOs, civil society members, trade union members and Auqaf members.
The event commenced at Government Degree College Tral with the rendition of the National Song and National Anthem, creating a strong patriotic atmosphere. The rally thereafter proceeded through the picturesque streets of Tral and culminated at Tral Bus Stand, where heartfelt tributes were paid to the bravehearts and martyrs of the soil who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
To honour their valour and sacrifice, a felicitation ceremony was also organised on the occasion, wherein the families of martyrs were felicitated. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that this year’s Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign is being celebrated from August 9 to 17 in integration with the third phase of the commemoration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
Calling the campaign a people’s movement, the DC said that Pulwama has set an example of Jan Bhagidari during the previous editions of the campaign, and expressed confidence that the people would once again participate with the same enthusiasm and spirit. He said that a detailed calendar of activities has been rolled out across the district to ensure widespread public participation and to carry the message of patriotism, unity and national pride to every household.
The DC called upon the people to actively participate in the campaign and make Har Ghar Tiranga–2026 a grand celebration of the spirit of the nation and collective participation.
