JAMMU: On the direction of Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Pal Mahajan and under the guidance of RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, the Motor Vehicles Department Jammu conducted extensive enforcement drive on National Highway Jammu-Udhampur, Sidhra, Nagrota.
The drive focused on checking overloading by passenger Vehicle, use of mobile while driving, driving 2 wheelers Without helmet, defaced/tempered number plates and the vehicle plying without documents, rash and negligent driving, triple riding, driving under the influence of liquor etc. besides seizing unfit vehicles.
The drive was conducted jointly by the ARTO Flying Squad Bipen Singh Charak and ARTO Board of Inspection Passenger, Er Kuldeep Singh alongside a team of Motor vehicle Inspectors S Jasbir Singh MVI and SMVI Amanish Sharma and supporting staff.
A total of 140 vehicles were checked out of which 36 were challaned and 4 were seized under relevant sections of M.V. Act & Rules. Total expected amount from e- challans is Rs 1.42 lakh. During the ongoing enforcement drive a road safety awareness camp was also organised at Khanpur Nagrota. The Team RTO Jammu interacted and imparted counselling to the drivers, conductors and Vehicle owners.
The drivers were made aware about the road safety devices in the vehicle, periodic preventive maintenance of vehicles (PM) and to follow all motor vehicle, traffic rules and norms to be safe and save human lives on the road. They were further asked to install Reverse Camera in the transport vehicles for easy manoeuvring and safe driving.
