JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Raman Suri today said the repeated threats to displaced Kashmiri Hindu employees working in the Valley under the Prime Minister’s Package are a clear reflection of the cowardice and growing frustration of terrorists who have failed to derail the return, rehabilitation and participation of Kashmiri Hindus in the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Those who threaten unarmed employees sitting away from their families are not demonstrating strength; they are exposing their frustration and cowardice. Their threats cannot decide where an Indian citizen will live, work or serve,” Suri said. He said the response will be firm, uncompromising and security-driven. Every threat will be investigated, those behind it identified and the entire network facilitating such intimidation dismantled.
“Kashmiri Hindus will not be intimidated, terrorism will not dictate the future of Kashmir, and the process of rehabilitation will not be reversed by threats. The government is seized of the situation and every employee working under the Prime Minister’s Package will have to feel completely secure at the workplace, residence and during transit,” he said.
Suri said the BJP remains committed to the safe return, rehabilitation and dignified resettlement of Kashmiri Hindus, adding that every attempt to frighten Kashmiri Hindus is an attempt to revive the politics of fear that Kashmir has rejected. The answer to such frustration is not retreat but stronger security, stronger resolve and stronger action against terrorism, Suri said.
He added that Kashmir belongs to every Indian citizen, and no terrorist organisation can be permitted to decide who can live, work or prosper there. “The era of terror dictating terms is over. The era of confidence, development and rehabilitation has begun and no threat letter can turn the clock back,” Raman Suri said. He appreciated the courage and determination of those employees who have refused to be intimidated by threats and said terrorism must not be allowed to dictate where an Indian citizen can live or serve.
“The objective of these threats is evidently to create fear and prevent the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus. That objective must never be allowed to succeed,” he said. Suri also called for a comprehensive security review of PM Package employees, including their residential accommodations, workplaces and transit routes. The Union Government has previously highlighted security and intelligence measures for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley, including area domination, proactive counter-terror operations, patrolling and deployment of security forces at strategic locations.
He further said that the people of Kashmir, including Kashmiri Hindus, must have complete confidence in the security apparatus and administration. Kashmiri Hindus have the right to return, work and rebuild their lives in the Valley without fear. No terrorist organisation will be allowed to reverse that process,” Raman Suri said.
