- According to Sanatan tradition, December 25 is observed as Tulsi Poojan Day with devotion and reverence across India
RAJOURI: While Christmas is celebrated across the country on December 25 with enthusiasm and grandeur, according to Sanatan Dharma, this day holds greater significance as Tulsi Poojan Day. Inspired by the teachings of Param Pujya Sant Shri Asaram Bapu Ji, today, Tulsi Poojan Day was observed in ashrams and centers across India with great devotion and spiritual fervor.
In Rajouri, the celebrations were held at the Sant Shri Asaram Bapu Ashram, where a large number of devotees participated in the grand program. The event commenced with the ritualistic worship of Tulsi Mata, followed by devotional songs (bhajans) and a spiritual discourse (satsang). During the satsang, the significance of Tulsi Poojan and the revered status of Tulsi Mata in Sanatan Dharma were explained in detail.
Amit Sharma, Vice President of the Youth Service Association and Media Coordinator of Sant Shri Asaram Bapu Ashram, Dassal, Rajouri, stated that under the inspiration of Bapu Ji, Tulsi Poojan Day is now observed across the country. He said, “This day connects us to our Sanatan culture and traditions. Such events play a vital role in instilling religious and moral values in children and youth.”
Children enthusiastically participated in the event. They lit lamps in front of Tulsi Mata, joined in bhajans, and expressed their devotion. The innocence and devotion of the children added a vibrant energy to the celebration. Alongside them, young adults and elders also performed the ceremonial worship of Tulsi Mata.
A special community feast (Bhandara) was organized as part of the program. The feast included a variety of offerings such as fruits, sweets, and nutritious dishes. All participants partook in the prasad and also shared it with their families. The saints emphasized that the Bhandara is not just a meal but symbolizes sharing, unity, and love.
During the program, the saints highlighted the spiritual and health benefits of Tulsi Poojan. They stated that consuming Tulsi can boost immunity, promote physical and mental well-being, and bring peace to the mind. They added that in today’s fast-paced world, when people often drift away from their culture, such events help in creating awareness among children and youth about their traditions.
The Rajouri Ashram is situated on a picturesque hill, offering a serene and unique experience. Devotees who come here immerse themselves in spiritual devotion. The saints said that peace is the greatest wealth, and seeking refuge in God brings balance and happiness in life.
The saints further explained that Tulsi Poojan is not merely a ritual but a source of spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. It connects individuals to their Sanatan roots and instills awareness among the younger generation that their culture always guides them on the right path.
This year, special educational activities were arranged for children, which included caring for Tulsi plants, participating in bhajans, and cultural presentations. These activities fostered awareness of religion, culture, and the environment among the children.
The significance of Tulsi Poojan extends beyond religion; it promotes social unity, health, and moral values. The saints emphasized that Tulsi consumption can prevent various ailments, bring mental peace, and promote harmony within families and communities. Hence, Tulsi Poojan Day symbolizes not only devotion but also health and social well-being.
The grand celebration at the Rajouri Ashram demonstrated how religious events can inspire unity, devotion, and positive energy in society. Children, youth, and elders expressed their faith and devotion collectively, experiencing a deep connection with Tulsi Mata.
Inspired by Sant Shri Asaram Bapu Ji, this celebration also serves as a means to preserve Sanatan culture and spread religious awareness. He emphasized that in today’s materialistic world, people often get distracted. Programs like Tulsi Poojan Day reconnect them with their inner peace and cultural heritage.
At the conclusion of the program, all participants, including children, youth, and elders, gathered together for Tulsi worship and received prasad. The devotion and enthusiasm of the children made the celebration memorable.
Thus, the Tulsi Poojan Day celebration at Sant Shri Asaram Bapu Ashram, Rajouri, on December 25, highlighted how religious and cultural events can promote awareness, devotion, and positive energy in society. This celebration stands as a shining example of preserving Sanatan traditions while educating the younger generation in religious, moral, and spiritual values.
