KISHTWAR: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kishtwar successfully organised an awareness programme on the occasion of National Consumer Day at the District Court Complex, Kishtwar. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Sudhir Khajuria, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority-cum-Principal Sessions Judge, Kishtwar and under the supervision of Meera Bangotra, Secretary, DLSA Kishtwar.
The event was graced by the presence of learned JMIC Kishtwar, Karan Bijyal along with members of the legal fraternity, advocates, court staff, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and members of the general public.
On the occasion, an awareness session was conducted to educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities. Naveed Khurshid, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Kishtwar, who also acted as the Resource Person, sensitised the participants on consumer protection laws, available grievance redressal mechanisms, and the importance of being an informed and vigilant consumer.
The programme witnessed active participation from Assistant LADCs Sanveer Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Iram Sabha, Farhat Nabi and Afshan Malik besides other advocates, staff members and PLVs.
As part of the awareness initiative, DLSA Kishtwar also organised a âNukad Natakâ (street play) which effectively conveyed a strong social message on consumer awareness and ethical trade practices. The play prominently highlighted the theme âJago Grahak Jagoâ, educating the public on safeguarding themselves against unfair trade practices and encouraging informed consumer behaviour.
In addition to the main programme, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Kishtwar conducted consumer awareness programmes in their respective areas, disseminating information on consumer rights, responsibilities and the availability of legal aid services.
The programme concluded with a message urging citizens to remain vigilant, stay informed about their consumer rights and approach legal aid institutions for timely redressal of grievances.
