KISHTWAR: The Department of Social Welfare, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti Kishtwar observed Veer Bal Diwas with religious fervour to commemorate the exemplary bravery and supreme sacrifice of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the younger sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The main programme was organized at the meeting hall of the Deputy Commissionerâs Office. Children from Palaash Child Care Institution, Parisha CCI and Ashiyana Orphanage actively participated in the event.
A series of engaging activities including painting, singing, quiz, debate and storytelling competitions were organised to provide children a platform to showcase their talent, creativity and confidence.
Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He interacted with the children, encouraging them to focus on education, develop essential life skills and strive for a bright future. The Deputy Commissioner also distributed prizes among the participants for their commendable performances.
Another programme was organized at NGO Alafala Manzil- Banderna, where children enthusiastically took part in the same set of activities. Similar activities were held in all Anganwadi Centres across the district. The District Programme Officer (DPO) and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) visited AWCs to interact with children and oversee the events.
The events were conducted under the overall guidance of District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parveaz Qazi. The programme was attended by PO ICDS Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma; CDPO Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, officials from the District Child Protection Office, representatives of child care institutions and orphanages besides staff of the Social Welfare Department. Support from the teams of DHEW and OSC also contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the event.
