JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, joined the Christian community in celebrating the festival of Christmas at various locations across Jammu, including Birpur, Garrison Church, Gandhinagar and Kunjwani.
The Minister conveyed warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion. He said that Christmas is not merely a religious festival but a celebration of universal values such as love, peace, sacrifice and service to humanity.
Highlighting Jammu and Kashmirâs age-old tradition of unity in diversity, the Minister said that the region has always been a shining example of peaceful coexistence among different faiths and cultures. He called upon all sections of society to work together to further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, tolerance and mutual respect in order to build a harmonious and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.

Recalling the visionary and transformative role of Jesus Christ, the Minister said that His teachings of love, forgiveness and selfless service have left an indelible mark on human civilisation and continue to inspire people across the world. He urged the citizens, particularly the youth, to follow these ideals and contribute positively to society.
The Minister also interacted with the members of the Christian community and local residents, appreciating their contribution in nurturing a spirit of harmony and social responsibility. He assured them of the governmentâs continued commitment towards safeguarding the rights, dignity and cultural heritage of every community. The celebrations at the churches were marked by special prayers, hymns and messages of goodwill, creating an atmosphere of joy, unity and spiritual reflection.
