KATHUA: The District Administration Kathua, in coordination with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), on Wednesday organised a Mock Drill-cum-Training Programme to orient district officers on the implementation, coordination and operationalisation of the District Disaster Management Plan. The event held here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vishavjeet Singh.
Regional Transport Officer, Surinder Sharma; ACD Akhil Sadotra, CMO, Dr Vijay Raina, besides other district and sectoral officers and officials of the DC Office Complex attended the workshop. The SDRF team was headed by DySP, Raghubir Singh.
The DySP underlined the significance of timely and coordinated response during exigencies. He elaborated on the role of SDRF during recent incidents of floods and heavy rains, besides briefing the participants on first aid, evacuation procedures and standard operating protocols to minimise loss of life and property.
In his address, the ADC emphasised the importance of operational readiness and preparedness at all levels to effectively handle disasters. He stressed that proactive planning, regular training and seamless coordination among line departments are key to swift response and efficient management during emergencies. He urged all departments to remain vigilant and ensure readiness of men, machinery and resources as per the Disaster Management Plan.
The SDRF team also gave live demonstrations of CPR and other essential rescue drills to familiarise officers with life-saving techniques. In addition, the team displayed rescue and safety equipment, explaining their usage and significance during disaster response operations.
