RAMGARH: Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Hon’ble MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health & Medical Education, Jammu & Kashmir, today kick-started repair and restoration works amounting to ₹1 crore in various flood-affected areas of Ramgarh.
The works are being undertaken to address the extensive damage caused by flash floods a few months ago, which resulted in breaches in embankments and damage to irrigation and flood control structures. The project aims to strengthen vulnerable points and ensure long-term flood protection for the area.
Dr. Manyal stated that strengthening embankments and restoring damaged infrastructure is a top priority to prevent future losses and safeguard lives, property, and agricultural land. He emphasized that the government remains fully committed to providing timely relief and sustainable solutions for flood-prone regions.
Executive Engineer, Flood Control, Samba Varinder Billowria, briefed the MLA about the technical aspects of the project and explained the scope of work, assuring that all repairs and strengthening works would be executed as per prescribed quality standards and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Those present on the occasion included DDC Ramgarh Sarbjit Singh Johal, Tehsildar Ramgarh Abhimanyu Kalsotra JKAS, Nancy Choudhary, President Ramgarh, along with prominent local representatives Prem Paul Choudhary and Anil Gupta. Dr. Manyal also interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns, and assured them that all genuine issues related to flood damage would be addressed on priority.
The initiation of these works fulfills a long-standing demand of the local population, who had been facing recurring hardships due to weakened embankments and inadequate flood protection. Residents expressed satisfaction over the commencement of the project and appreciated the proactive intervention of the MLA in mitigating future flood risks.
