- Pays tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s visionary leadership and nation-building legacy
JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pahari Jila Basohli, organized the “Atal Smriti Sammelan” in Billawar Assembly Constituency on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister, and BJP founder, the revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. During the program, Chief Guest, BJP J&K General Secretary and former Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, paid a detailed tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s extraordinary personality, visionary leadership, and historic contributions to nation-building.
He especially highlighted the Pokhran Nuclear Tests, stating that despite immense global pressure and opposition, Atal ji’s courageous and decisive leadership established India as a nuclear power. He added that this historic decision not only strengthened India’s security and strategic capabilities but also demonstrated India’s courage, self-respect, and unwavering national resolve to the world. Billawaria further stated that Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s life was not limited to politics; he was also a fearless journalist who actively participated in struggles for national interest.
He recalled the difficult phase of the movement led by Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, when the resolution of “One nation cannot have two constitutions, two prime ministers, and two flags” was taken forward. During that movement, when Dr. Mukherjee entered Jammu and Kashmir without a permit, Atal ji accompanied him in the role of a journalist. At that historic moment, Dr. Mukherjee told Atal ji, “Go and tell the nation that I entered Jammu and Kashmir without a permit, because it is an integral part of India.” He added that this incident became a powerful symbol of national unity and left a profound impact on Atal ji’s life and ideology.
He emphasized that Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s thoughts continue to inspire efforts toward unity, development, and peace across Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation. Atal ji provided India with a new direction, renewed confidence, and a vision of self-reliance. Billawaria stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, carrying forward the same ideological legacy, nationalism, and development-oriented vision, is fulfilling Atal ji’s dreams.
Whether it is welfare for the poor, unprecedented infrastructure development, strengthening national security, the resolve of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, or peace, stability, and development in Jammu & Kashmir every sector reflects the Modi government’s commitment to Atal ji’s ideology and national interest. He concluded by saying that Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s thoughts and ideals will continue to inspire future generations to work selflessly for the nation. President Pahari Jila Basohli Gopal Kishan, District In-charge Amar Singh, DDC Member Vikram Singh, Neeru Rajput, along with a large number of party office-bearers, workers, and prominent local citizens, were present.
