SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan today chaired a meeting here in the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Complex to review the arrangements for the 77th Republic Day celebration.

The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the preparations being made to ensure the smooth, orderly and successful conduct of the Republic Day function. Emphasizing the significance of the national event, she stressed that the celebrations must reflect patriotism, discipline, unity and national pride.

The Deputy Commissioner assigned responsibilities to line departments pertaining to parade arrangements, cultural programmes, tableaux making, seating and venue management, security, sanitation, power supply, drinking water facilities, health services, fire and emergency services, traffic regulation, publicity and other allied arrangements. All departments were instructed to ensure timely execution of assigned duties and maintain close inter-departmental coordination to avoid any lapses.

Highlighting the importance of public participation, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the second phase of the “Vande Mataram” campaign will commence one week prior to Republic Day to further strengthen patriotic fervour among the masses. She also announced that a “Tiranga Rally” will be organized two days before Republic Day to encourage community involvement and promote the spirit of nationalism across the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP Varinder Singh Manhas; ADC Jagdish Singh and officers from various departments, who assured full cooperation for the successful conduct of the Republic Day celebrations
