PULWAMA AND BUDGAM: Police in Pulwama organised Thana Diwas across all police establishments of the district as part of its continued efforts to strengthen public outreach and community policing.
The programme was chaired by the respective jurisdictional officers and attended by public representatives, Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, members of trade and transport associations, civil society members and other respectable citizens of the concerned areas.
During these meetings, various issues of public importance were raised. The participants were assured that all genuine grievances falling within the police domain will be addressed on priority, while matters related to other departments will be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
The public was urged to cooperate with the Police in maintaining peace and order and to assist in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements, particularly those involved in narcotics smuggling and other unlawful activities.
The participants appreciated Police for conducting such programmes, stating that these interactions help in building trust, enhance transparency and strengthen public confidence in policing. Police reiterated its commitment to responsive, people-friendly and proactive policing to ensure peace and harmony in the district.
‘THANA DIWAS’ BUDGAM: Police in Budgam observed Thana Diwas across all Police Stations and Police Posts of the district. The programme was organised at Police Stations Magam, Chadoora, Charar-i-Shareif, Khansahib, Budgam, Beerwah and Khag, as well as Police Posts Pakherpora, Soibugh, Humhama, Narbal, Hardupanzo, Waterhail and Mouchwa.
These events, chaired by the respective jurisdictional officers, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who raised various policing-related issues and grievances. Officers assured the public that all genuine concerns will be addressed promptly.
Chairing officers urged citizens to cooperate in maintaining peace and public order, preventing crime, curbing drug abuse and identifying anti-social elements. Participants appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed their support for strengthening community safety and harmony.
Thana Diwas is a flagship initiative of the J&K Police aimed at enhancing police–public relations, promoting transparency and providing a dedicated platform for public engagement. Police reiterated its commitment to people-friendly policing and assured that such outreach programmes would continue to ensure effective service delivery.
