KATHUA: DC XI defeated Agriculture XI by 24 runs in an exciting friendly cricket match played here today, showcasing a spirited display of batting, bowling and fielding by both the teams. Batting first, DC XI posted a competitive total of 139 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
ADC Kathua Vishavjeet Singh emerged as the top scorer with a well-crafted 45 runs off 35 balls, laced with six boundaries. Arun Malhotra played a steady innings of 35 runs off 39 balls, including four boundaries, while Rajinder Digra added quick runs, scoring 19 off 12 balls with one six and three fours. Raman provided a late flourish by hitting a six off a single delivery.
For Agriculture XI, Mukesh and Pankaj Andotra led the bowling attack effectively, claiming three wickets each while Arun Dev and Sanjay picked up one wicket apiece. In reply, Agriculture XI put up a fighting effort but were restricted to 115 runs. Amit Gupta top-scored with 27 runs off 30 balls including three fours followed by Sanjay who scored 20 off 18 balls with two boundaries. Rajesh Sharma chipped in with a brisk 14 runs off 9 balls, hitting two sixes.
The bowling attack of DC XI proved decisive, with Ranjit Thakur delivering an impressive spell to claim three wickets. Arun and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma picked up two wickets each, while Raman also took two wickets.
From Agriculture XI, the fielding unit remained sharp throughout the match, with wicketkeeper Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer Kathua R.K. Manhas effecting four catches, adding pressure on the batting side. From DC XI, wicketkeeper Pankush Prashar stumped the batsman with his quick reflexes.
