JAMMU: The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, organized an extension lecture on the theme “OER: Bridging the Gap between Users and Textbooks” in the Department today.

Dr. Madhu Midha, Deputy Librarian and Head, Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC), I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, was the distinguished resource person for the lecture. She deliberated on the role of OER in enhancing access to quality educational content, reducing the cost of textbooks, and promoting innovative teaching-learning practices by effectively bridging the gap between users and learning resources. 

Earlier, Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head of the Department, delivered the introductory address in which she formally welcomed the resource person to the Department. She highlighted the growing importance and relevance of Open Educational Resources (OER) in contemporary higher education, emphasizing their role in enhancing access to quality learning materials and bridging the gap between users and textbooks.

The lecture witnessed active participation from faculty members, students, and research scholars, who interacted with the resource person and shared their views on the adoption and integration of OER in academic institutions. Dr. Meghna Dhar, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
