POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office to review arrangements for the upcoming Gurpurab/Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain Bhatt; Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mohammad Sayeed; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan; XEN JPDCL Aftab Ahmedl DSWO Khalil Ahmed Bandayl; Tehsildar Mandi Pallvi Verma; AD FCS & CA Adil Shabir; AEE Jal Shakti, representatives from Traffic and Fire & Emergency departments, besides religious heads and prominent citizens.
Discussions were held on key arrangements, including uninterrupted power and water supply, security measures during the Nagar Kirtan, a special sanitation drive around Gurdwaras, deployment of ambulances along the procession route, and availability of water tankers at major venues. It was informed that the Nagar Kirtan will be held on December 28, followed by Gurpurab celebrations on December 30 , 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Officer, Municipality to ensure thorough cleanliness at all identified religious sites. He instructed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure continuous water and electricity supply, with additional water tankers stationed at key locations.
The Chief Medical Officer was directed to arrange adequate ambulances during the procession for prompt medical assistance. The Fire & Emergency Department was asked to remain on alert and ensure all necessary fire safety measures during the celebrations.
Emphasizing the importance of security, the Deputy Commissioner directed police authorities to deploy sufficient personnel along the procession route and at sensitive locations to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the events.
The SSP Poonch assured that comprehensive arrangements will be in place to maintain law and order and appealed to the public to celebrate the festival peacefully, joyfully, and in harmony.
