SRINAGAR: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar commemorated Veer Bal Diwas on Friday with enthusiasm and reverence on its campus, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice and courage of the Sahibzadas. The event witnessed active participation from children of faculty and staff members, making the observance both educational and engaging.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Executive Engineer Dr Syed Mohsin Shabir, who served as the nodal officer for the event. A series of activities aimed at instilling values of bravery, patriotism, and discipline among children were conducted on the occasion. The function was attended by In-charge Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, Prof. Najeeb-ud-Din, Prof. Hamida-tun-Nisa Chishti, along with faculty members, officers and staff of the institute.
In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, said that Veer Bal Diwas stands as a timeless reminder of the extraordinary courage shown by the Sahibzadas at a very young age. He stated that their sacrifice for truth, faith and righteousness continues to inspire generations and emphasised the importance of such observances in shaping responsible, value-driven citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir said that Veer Bal Diwas serves as a reminder of the extraordinary courage and sacrifices made by young heroes for the protection of values and faith. She emphasised that such occasions are vital to inspire children with ideals of resilience, moral strength and national pride.
Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman highlighted the importance of remembering history and passing on its lessons to younger generations. He said that engaging children through activities helps them understand the significance of sacrifice, unity and service to society. As part of the celebrations, various activities, including painting competitions, football matches, and races, were organised, which saw enthusiastic participation from children.
