RAMBAN: The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Ramban in line with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan and under the guidance of Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar today organised a one-day awareness programme at Makhanachak, Sana Block, Batote, with the objective of creating awareness among farmers, Self Help Groups (SHGs), and unemployed youth about the government schemes aimed at strengthening the agriculture and allied sectors.
The farmers were educated about flagship schemes including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Jammu & Kashmir Competitive Improvement Project (JKCIP), PMFME and support for grading and packing.
Area Marketing Officer, Tehsin Iqbal Chib briefed the participants on the objectives, eligibility criteria and benefits of these schemes. He encouraged farmers and youth to avail the government support for setting up own income generation ventures.
Cluster Coordinator Ajay Sharma along with a representative from the Jammu & Kashmir National Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKNRLM) also highlighted the opportunities available for SHGs and rural youth to establish sustainable livelihood ventures.
The programme witnessed active participation from local farmers and SHG members who appreciated the initiative and sought clarifications regarding scheme implementation and application procedures.
