AWANTIPORA: Police in Awantipora organised Drug Awareness Programmes at Crescent Coaching Centre Tral, and Peace Library Awantipora, under the supervision of the SHO Police Station Awantipora and SHO Police Station Tral.

The programmes aimed to sensitise students and youth about the harmful physical, psychological, and social effects of drug abuse. During the interactive sessions, police officers highlighted the growing menace of drug addiction and its adverse impact on individuals, families, and society at large.

Participants were educated about various narcotic and psychotropic substances, early warning signs of drug addiction, and the serious legal consequences associated with drug abuse and drug trafficking under prevailing laws. Emphasis was also laid on the importance of making informed and responsible choices and adopting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The officers encouraged students to remain vigilant, resist peer pressure, and promptly report any information related to drug peddling or abuse to the police. The vital role of parents, teachers, and educational institutions in preventing substance abuse was also highlighted.

The participants actively interacted during the sessions and appreciated the efforts of J&K Police for conducting such awareness programmes and for taking proactive steps towards building a drug free society.
