JAMMU: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Jammu today organized a Guidance and Counselling Camp at PM SHRI Higher Secondary School- Khanna Chargal. The programme focused on Mental Health Awareness, Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) 2026 and Career Guidance, with special emphasis on Chartered Accountancy (CA) as a career option.
Head of Department and a well-known psychologist Dr. Romesh Kumar conducted an interactive session, with deliberations centered on positive mental health and exam stress management. He shared practical, evidence-based strategies to manage academic pressure and motivated participants to register for Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026, highlighting the role of emotional preparedness and constructive dialogue in examinations.
To strengthen experiential learning, fellows from the Piramal Foundation facilitated hands-on activities focused on Social Emotional Ethical (SEE) Learning, enabling students to develop self-awareness, empathy, and ethical decision-making skills.
The career guidance segment was led by CA Anuj Mahajan, representing the ICAI Jammu & Kashmir Chapter Committee on Career Guidance. The expert delivered a comprehensive session on Chartered Accountancy as a career, covering eligibility, course structure, required competencies, and future professional opportunities.
Lecturer Sunny Mehta briefed the students on Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026 and various ways in which they can cope with exam stress and life beyond academics. Rajni Devi( Teacher) also talked about the vitality of mental health and scheduling activities based on priorities to stay away from stress.
Appreciating the efforts of the Counselling Cell, DIET Jammu Principal R. G. Dogra encouraged the organizers to host similar programmes in rural schools, in alignment with the Supreme Court guidelines, Manodarpan and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Principal of PM SHRI HSS Khanna Chargal expressed gratitude to the DIET Jammu team for inspiring students and teachers through this meaningful initiative.
