JAMMU: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raman Suri today underscored the historic importance of Veer Baal Divas, stating that the observance of this day is a profound tribute to the unparalleled sacrifice of the Sahibzade of tenth Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and a testament to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his statement issued here, Raman Suri said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who deemed it both apt and necessary to dedicate a national day to remember the supreme martyrdom of the Sahibzade—Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji—whose bravery and steadfast faith continue to inspire generations.
“Veer Baal Divas is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a solemn reminder of the highest ideals of courage, sacrifice and righteousness. The Sahibzade of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj stood firm in the face of unimaginable cruelty. The younger Sahibzade, Zorawar Singh Ji and Fateh Singh Ji, were bricked alive at Sirhind for refusing to abandon their faith. Such a sacrifice has few parallels in world history,” Raman Suri said.
He emphasized that the decision to observe Veer Baal Divas reflects Prime Minister Modi’s deep respect for India’s civilizational ethos and Sikh heritage. “This initiative is the only true way to pay homage to the Sahibzade—by ensuring that their story is not confined to history books but becomes a living source of inspiration for every Indian, especially the youth,” he added.
Raman Suri said the move was aimed at making not only Indians but the entire world aware of the martyrdom of the Sahibzade and the rich legacy of sacrifice associated with Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. “The Guru’s life and the sacrifice of his sons represent the eternal struggle for justice, freedom of conscience and human dignity. Veer Baal Divas sends a powerful message that India remembers its martyrs and draws strength from their legacy,” he said.
Paying his respect and tributes to Sahibzaade on the occasion, he said that events organised were designed to instill values of bravery, moral courage and selfless service among youngsters. “The story of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, who attained martyrdom while fighting valiantly on the battlefield, and the supreme sacrifice of the younger Sahibzade, teaches our youth that standing up for truth and righteousness often demands the highest courage,” Raman Suri noted.
Raman Suri further said that the BJP’s commitment to observing Veer Baal Divas reflects its respect for Sikh history and its resolve to preserve and propagate India’s glorious heritage. “By remembering the Sahibzade, we are reminding ourselves of the price paid for our freedoms and the moral compass that should guide our nation,” he said.
Raman Suri appealed to people, “Let this day inspire every Indian to live by the values exemplified by the Sahibzade—fearlessness, sacrifice, unwavering faith and love for the nation. Veer Baal Divas is a tribute, a lesson and a legacy that must be carried forward”.
