BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Uddin Bhat, today flagged off a trekking camp to the famous tourist destination Pahalgam, for boys of all age groups hailing from District Budgam. The ceremony was held at the DC Office complex Budgam, in the presence of participating students and officials.
The trekking camp is being organized by the District Administration Budgam in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Budgam, as part of sustained efforts to encourage youth participation in outdoor and adventure-based activities. While interacting with the students, the DC Said that adventure sports play a vital role in building physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among young people.
He stated that such exposure visit helps inculcate leadership qualities, resilience, and a spirit of cooperation, which are essential for the overall personality development of the youth.
The DC encouraged students to make optimum use of the opportunity by actively engaging in all activities planned during the camp. He laid Emphasis on following safety protocols, maintaining discipline, and respecting nature throughout the trekking expedition.
The DC extended best wishes to the participants for a safe, healthy, and enriching experience. He also stated that the District Administration Budgam remains committed to promoting sports, adventure tourism, and healthy lifestyle initiatives as part of its broader youth empowerment strategy. Such programmes are instrumental in channelizing the energy of youth in a positive and productive direction, he said.
On the occasion, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Budgam, along with other concerned officers and officials of the department, were present and briefed the DC about the arrangements put in place to ensure the smooth, safe, and well-coordinated conduct of the camp.
The initiative aims to encourage adventure sports, promote physical and mental well-being, and provide the youth with an opportunity to explore the scenic beauty and natural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, thereby fostering environmental awareness and a sense of belonging among the participants.
