JAMMU: Former Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation & BJP Vice President, Chander Mohan Gupta, called on Vikas Kundal, Managing Director, Jammu Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited, and presented a memorandum on irregular power supply and sought his intervention to mitigate the problems of the people in these hot monsoons.
JMC former Councillors Surinder Choudhary, Ward No.29, Rekha Manhas, Ward No.62, Narinder Singh, Ward No. 70, Ajay Gupta, Ward No. 52, and Mohinder Bhagat, Ward No. 61, also accompanied Chander Mohan Gupta. The memorandum mentioned that despite installation of smart meters and new transformers, which were purportedly meant to stabilize and ensure uninterrupted power supply, people still continue to experience frequent and unscheduled power cuts in day times and night hours also. This situation is particularly challenging given the harsh
weather conditions, characterized by high humidity and uncomfortable temperatures. It further mentioned that the government and the electricity department had assured the public that the installation of smart meters and additional transformers would eliminate power cuts and voltage fluctuations. However, the current scenario demonstrates a failure to fulfil these promises. As a result, the people, especially the elderly, sick, and young children, are facing hardships. The lack of consistent electricity exacerbates health issues, disrupts daily life, and contribute to discomfort during these already challenging weather conditions.
Chander Mohan Gupta, through this memorandum, urged the department to take immediate steps to address and resolve the power supply irregularities to provide relief to the affected people. He expressed hope that the department will prioritize this matter and take the necessary steps to rectify the situation promptly. Besides this memorandum, the former councillors also took up the issues of their respective wards related to the power department.
