• Central University of Jammu marked International Women’s Day on March 7, 2025, with a vibrant Fitness Rally, highlighting the global women’s rights movement while celebrating women’s cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements. Organized by the Directorate of Physical Education, the event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, students, and researchers, aligning with PM Narendra Modi’s call for fitness and a healthy nation. Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain flagged off the rally, emphasizing CU Jammu’s commitment to gender parity and women-led development. Participants reflected on the significance of Women’s Day, advocating for continued progress and equity.

JAMMUWomen’s day which is celebrated globally to educate society on the remarkable women’s rights movement while celebrating the cultural, political, and socio-economical achievements of women and girls was observed in the university campus of Central University of Jammu by organising a Fitness Rally on 7 March, 2025.

Organised under the aegis of Directorate of Physical Education, the rally witnessed overwhelming participation of women faculty, staff, students and researchers to observe the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji  to fight obesity and to have balanced physical activity, fitness regime to build a healthy nation.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain flagged off the rally in the presence of Registrar, Prof. Yashwant Singh, Deans of various schools and heads. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vandana Sharma, Director, underscored how CU Jammu campus exemplifies gender parity and women -led development under the visionary leadership of Prof. Jain.

The Vice Chancellor congratulated the participants of the fitness rally and said that as a staunch votary of accelerating gender parity he ensures gender equality and gender equity. The enthusiastic participants of the fitness rally deliberated over the history of women's day and discussed how women’s role in nation building has been exemplary.  This day marked a call to action for highlighting the ongoing efforts for continued advocacy and action worldwide.

Registrar, Prof. Yashwant Singh, the Assistant Director, Dr. Sudhakar, Dr. Kiran and team from Sports Authority of India , Mr. Touseef Ahmed and Mr. Parteek Kumar also participated in the event.
