NEW DELHI: DSTiTBI, IIM JAMMU under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu was inaugurated at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the occasion of National Science Day Celebrations 2025 on 28th Feb 2025 with the theme, âEmpowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharatâ, by Dr. Jitendra Singh Ji, Honâble Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy, and Minister of State in the Department of Space in the august presence of Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, (DST), Dr. V. Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Science, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman, ISRO,Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, Prof Ashutosh Sharma, President, Indian National Science Academy, (INSA), Dr. N. Kalaiselvi,Director General, CSIR & Secretary DSIR, Dr. Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, (DBT), Prof. A.K. Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt. of India, and Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Head NCSTC, SHRI & Scientist-F at Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India.
Representing IIM Jammu at this prestigious occasion were Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson, Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development, IIM Jammu, alongwith Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer (Jammu), IIM Jammu. Also present on the occasion Shri KannavPadha, Manager, DST iTBI, IIM Jammu.
The launch of DST iTBI, IIM Jammu marks a significant step towards supporting and promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and skill development among youth. It aims to provide a robust ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators, aligning with Indiaâs vision of becoming a global leader in science and technology.
The DST iTBI IIM Jammu is expected to serve as a hub for nurturing innovative ideas, facilitating research and development, and supporting start-ups in their entrepreneurial journey. With strong institutional backing and collaboration with key government bodies, the initiative will contribute significantly to creating a healthy business ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir and thereby contributing to India's scientific progress and economic development.
The inauguration event concluded with discussions on policy frameworks and collaborative efforts needed to strengthen the start-up ecosystem and enhance India's position in global innovation indices.
