KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has inaugurated a Five-Day Skill Development Programme on Soft Computing and Applications, scheduled from 3rd- 7thFeb,25, organised by School of Computer Science & Engineering. The programme is funded and supported by the Higher Education Department, Government of UT of J&K to inculcate the startup skills among the youth of UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
The initiative aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in the rapidly advancing domain of Soft Computing and particularly to inculcate the start up skills in the domain.The programme has attracted participants from esteemed institutions across Jammu and Kashmir, including Central University of Jammu,UIET Kathua, University of Jammu, and MIET Jammu, covering various regions of the UT.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Kumar emphasised on the evolution and growth of the internet along with the rise of the domain of soft computing.His inspirational words resonated with the participants, setting an encouraging tone for the event.Prof. K.R. Jha, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, SMVDU, is the Coordinator of the programme, with Prof. Manoj Kumar Gupta, Dr. Pooja Sharma, and Mr. Manoj Kumar serving as Co-Coordinators.
The distinguished guests at the inaugural event included Dr. Shitala Prasad from IIT Goa and Prof. Dinesh Kumar Vishwakarma from DTU Delhi, who shared their valuable insights with the participants. Additionally, the event will feature lectures by renowned faculty members from premier institutes like IITs, NITs, CSIR, and JNU, along with industry experts, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and industry in the modern technological landscape.The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Manoj Kumar Gupta, followed by an introduction to the workshop by Mr. Manoj Kumar.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pooja Sharma,Associate Professor (SoCSE).
