JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S.  Sahay,  Director,  IIM  Jammu  inaugurated  a  unique  trekking-based  Management  Development Programme (MDP) for NTPC’s dynamic young leaders at the Prahalad Classroom on 25th Feb 2025. This leadership training program, conducted from 24th Feb to 26th Feb 2025, is designed to enhance leadership skills through experiential  learning  in the picturesque  lower Himalayas.  

The program features seven carefully curated sessions aimed at fostering personal and professional growth.  The batch featured 49 participants from the different part of the country. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Program Director, Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE &C), IIM Jammu and Dr. Chinmaya.K. Swain, Program Director, IIM Jammu.

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, emphasized that NTPC is the pride of India, playing a crucial role in shaping the nation's future. He highlighted that the program serves as a platform to connect, collaborate, and envision the future together. He noted that while IIM Jammu brings academic expertise, NTPC professionals contribute practical knowledge, creating an opportunity for synergy and co-creation.

Reflecting on IIM Jammu’s journey, he spoke about the Institute’s rapid journey from the transit campus of Canal Road Campus to Permanent Campus at Jagti and the introduction of various other programs under the visionary leadership of Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. He encouraged participants to actively engage, take note of key takeaways, and make the most of this opportunity to create a meaningful impact

Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Program Director, IIM Jammu, during the inaugural ceremony, emphasized the boundless potential of human capacity. Quoting Mark Twain, he highlighted that the two most important days in life are the day one is born and the day one discovers why. He extended his warm wishes to all the participants, stating that the journey ahead is both promising and make best use of this training program.

Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, EE&C, IIM Jammu, welcomed participants, highlighting the program’s uniqueness. He thanked NTPC for their nominations and provided an overview of IIM Jammu’s expanding training initiatives. Introducing the EE&C division, he emphasized its objectives and impact. He encouraged participants to maximize their learning experience while enjoying the institute’s lush green campus.

The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Chinmaya. K. Swain, Program Director, IIM Jammu followed by the National Anthem.The program includes field-based experiential learning activities such as trekking in the Himalayas, empowering leadership, team building, sustainability and good governance, conflict resolution, negotiating solutions, intrapreneurship skills, strategic thinking, mastering communication for leadership, and digital transformation. Through initiatives like these, IIM Jammu reaffirms its role in shaping future-ready leaders who can make meaningful contributions to society and industry.
