RAJOURI: As part of Vigilance Awareness Week being observed across the country, a day-long awareness program was today organised by the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Bureau in collaboration with District Administration Rajouri, in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow.
During the event the speakers highlighted the scores of measures being taken by the government to put an end to corruption, including switch over to e- Governance, disbursement of welfare benefits of various schemes of the Government in a transparent manner through the DBT initiative, implementation of E-tendering in public procurement, simplification of procedure and systems etc were discussed.
SSP ACB, Amit Verma while speaking during the event, said that the government has taken a number of measures to end corruption from the country. He also said that zero tolerance against corruption on the ground has brought transparency in governance and it is being ensured that the benefits of good governance reach the last person in the queue without any discrimination. He also stressed on the importance of character building in preventing corruption.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner/DVO Rajouri Rajiv Kumar Khajuria said that vigilance week is celebrated to increase public awareness about the perils of corruption and also to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by the corruption. He also said that corruption is a bottleneck in the way of development and the need of the hour is to make collective efforts to end it. Underlining the need for strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the vigilance department, he also emphasized on sensitizing the employees and public about the ill effects of corruption through workshops and mass campaigns.
