JAMMU: The decision of the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s administration to dismiss six employees – five from the police and one from the Education Department – for their deep involvement in anti-national activities is a great step in the right direction. The administration by these employees associated with terrorism or drugs has sent a strong message amongst the people that the Jammu and Kashmir UT administration was very serious in dealing with such menace and won’t hesitate to show doors to such incompetent employees who are out there to damage our country and society.
This was stated by Dr Varinder Sharma, co-convenor Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K who added that during the past few months, some instructions were also issued to the employees warning them not to associate themselves with drug suppliers or militants. The government has clearly warmed such black sheep and resolved to identify them and throw them out of jobs. Now that the government has taken stringent and apt action, not even a single opposition leader is being appreciative of the move.
The thing which is more shocking is that five employees of the Jammu and Kashmir police have been identified, who were aiding and abetting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and instead of working for the people were working against them. These black sheep identified by the LG administration and thrown out of government jobs is a message to the remaining employees to mend their ways, Dr Varinder Sharma said.
He said that all government employees must work with regards to civil services rules (CSR) and be loyal to their nation or else face ouster. Still shocking was that another one employee has been identified and sacked as a teacher in the education department. This is more unfortunate than most important sections of society, including the police and the Education Department, which are supposed to impart good education to children, break the nexus of terrorists and drug suppliers are for themselves becoming part of this Nexus.
This is an open secret that the militancy is on its last leg in Jammu and Kashmir and to sustain it, its handlers are now switching over to drug supplies. For the last few years the border security forces and police have seized a lot of drugs being smuggled from across the border. Which establishes that those who were supporting militancy are now supporting smuggling of drugs just to sustain and destabilize our country, The BJP leader said.
He said that the way the LG administration has dealt with such people during the past few years and shunted them out calls for appreciation. Meantime, the government employees in J&K must adhere to civil services rules and ensure that the job they are assigned must be done with utmost sincerity, honesty and without any flaws. All the heads of the departments must also keep us check on their employees. And ensure that they don’t play with the security of the nation or pose any threat to it.
The activities of these sacked employees had come to the notice of law enforcement and intelligence agencies who found them thickly involved in activities prejudicial to the interests of the state, evidencing their involvement in terror-related activities. Dr. Varinder Sharma praised the administration's actions, stating, “This strong message affirms the Jammu and Kashmir UT administration's commitment to eradicating elements that pose a threat to our country and society. The dismissal of these employees associated with terrorism and drugs is a clear indication that the government is serious about dealing with such menaces.”
