ANANTNAG & SHOPIAN: Continuing its community outreach and awareness initiatives, J&K Police organised a series of Parent-Teacher meetings (PTMs) across various schools in the Anantnag & Shopian districts.

In Anantnag, the meetings were held at several key institutions including RP School Mattan, GHSS Achabal, Town Hall Achabal, Sir Syed Memorial School Dooru, GHSS Pahalgam, English Medium School Larnoo, Police Station Bijbehara, and Nice Higher Secondary School Srigufwara.

During these interaction sessions, police officers, teachers, and parents discussed the growing challenge of substance abuse, behavioural changes observed among affected students, and the crucial role of families and schools in early identification, counselling, and rehabilitation. Officers urged parents to maintain open communication with their children and to seek timely assistance in cases of suspected drug use.

In Shopian, Parents, Teachers and Students Meets were organized at Government Primary School Pehlipora Keller and Rainbow International School Nagbal Shopian. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, parents and teaching staff from UPS Pehlipora, GPS Pehlipora and Rainbow International School Nagbal.

During the interactive sessions, participants were educated about various social and legal issues, including drug abuse prevention, cyber safety, and the awareness about new criminal laws Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Speakers highlighted that active parental involvement and teacher student engagement are key to preventing social evils like drug abuse and fostering positive behavior among youth.

The initiative reflects J&K Police’s commitment to community partnership and youth welfare, ensuring continued engagement with educational institutions to foster a supportive and drug-free environment for students.
