• Wild cannabis also destroyed

SRINAGAR:  Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a wanted drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession. Besides, destroyed wild cannabis on approximately on 3 Kanals.

A Police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan alongwith IC PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Wussan Pattan, intercepted a person identified as Mohd Amir Dar son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Khambiyar, Palhallan. During search 3.250 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated. Meanwhile, Police launched a comprehensive operation to destroy wild cannabis in Kanchan village of Baramulla. The team, comprising Police officials, respectables, Numberdars & Chowkidars conducted a thorough search of the area and identified vast tracts of land approx. 3 Kanals of wild cannabis. The team meticulously destroyed the wild cannabis, ensuring that the drugs do not reach the streets and fuel addiction.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
