JAMMU: Senior National Conference (NC) leader, District Development Council (DDC) Dhansal member, and Nagrota Assembly segment candidate Shamim Begum today addressed a series of public gatherings in the Nagrota constituency.
Addressing enthusiastic gatherings at several locations in Nagrota Constituency, Shamim Begum highlighted the historic role of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference in empowering women and ensuring their active participation in politics and governance.
“The National Conference has been a forerunner in bringing women into the political mainstream at a time when such participation was almost unknown across the subcontinent,” she said. “Our party has always championed the cause of women’s rights and empowerment. It was the NC that gave women a voice in decision-making, policy formulation, and governance long before it became a national agenda.”
She further expressed gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in her. “I am thankful to the leadership for giving me the opportunity to serve the people once again. Before being announced as the candidate for the Nagrota by-elections, I had the privilege of serving as a DDC member for Dhansal, and I will continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of my people, especially women and youth,” she said.
During her address, Shamim Begum urged people to strengthen the National Conference in the upcoming by-elections, assuring them of transparent, inclusive, and development-oriented governance. Among those who were present included: Ch. Rehmat Ali Former BDC Chairman, Thoru Ram Block President, Saif Ali Lambardar, Majeed Panch and others.
