BANI: Apni Party President, Kandi Belt (Bani – Basohli), Yasar Choudhary has demanded Pahari Status for Bani, Lohai Malhar, Dugan, and Dugain which are one of the remotest and undeveloped areas of District Kathua. In a statement issued here, Yasar said that the above cited areas deserve Pahari status because these areas remained neglected regarding development, road infrastructure, health, and education sectors.
“The issue of backwardness of Bani, Lohai Malhar, Dugan, and Dugain has not been addressed since the last seven decades. Therefore, these areas deserve Pahari status for its overall development, and equal opportunity to the people of remote areas,” he added. He said that the above cited areas have been neglected by the Govt and the people have been deprived of their constitutional right for equal treatment regarding development, employment, road connectivity, health care, and education system. To uplift the living standard of the people, he said that it becomes imperative for the Govt to grant Pahari status to the above stated areas in Bani.
