KISHTWAR: As part of an ongoing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign launched by the District Administration Kishtwar to combat the growing issue of drug abuse, today saw an overwhelming response from all segments of society across Block Drabshalla, Block Bunjwah, Block Palmar, Block Thakrie and Block Trigam.
The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan, has generated significant enthusiasm and community participation. This grassroots-level initiative seeks to educate the public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and engage local communities in the fight against addiction. The campaign focuses on raising awareness and mobilising action to address the issue effectively.
To ensure continuous engagement, awareness programs are being held every Monday across panchayats, with active participation from local residents, students and community leaders. Various designated officers and nodal agencies have organised activities today, where a series of IEC programs took place aimed at spreading awareness among the participants.
The day's events included speeches by speakers, distribution of informational pamphlets, public announcements and sharing success stories of individuals who have overcome addiction, as well as discussions on the socio-legal consequences of substance abuse.
The events emphasised the importance of building a "Nasha Mukt" (drug-free) society, encouraging youth to take an active role in educating others about the dangers of drug abuse. The administration's ongoing efforts to tackle the problem through consistent information-sharing and community involvement were highlighted throughout the programs. The events were attended by civil administration officials, students, teachers and various dignitaries.
