- Leaders say BJP committed to safeguarding students’ careers and communal harmony in Jammu & Kashmir
JAMMU: Senior BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir strongly criticized the Congress party over its statements on the Vaishno Devi Medical College admissions controversy, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation and indulging in divisive communal politics.
J&K BJP spokespersons Dr. Tahir Chowdhary, and Rajni Sethi accompanied by Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra were addressing a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Dr. Tahir Chowdhary described Congress as a party with a long history of misleading the public.
“The Congress party’s agenda has always been to confuse and mislead the people of India. They have consistently tried to malign the government and target the BJP. Even abroad, they have sought to insult the nation. Their leadership is in chaos, and even their own workers question the party’s direction,” Chowdhary said.
He criticized Congress’s handling of issues in the region, particularly the ongoing controversy regarding admissions to the Vaishno Devi Medical College. “The BJP has never discriminated against students based on religion. Whether they are Kashmiri or from Jammu, we have always worked to ensure that their careers are protected. The Vaishno Devi Medical College issue is being resolved carefully. The affected students will be shifted to other reputable institutions. But Congress continues to create confusion and target the party unnecessarily,” he added.
Chowdhary further highlighted what he called Congress’s history of divisive politics. “The party has never contributed anything meaningful to the country except for sustaining a single family dynasty. Their attempts to mislead the people have continued for decades. Today, even their statements cause harm to the public,” he said.
Rajni Sethi asserted that Congress is attempting to exploit religious differences in Jammu and Kashmir for political gains. “Congress has always tried to divide India on communal lines to serve vote-bank politics. They are attempting to repeat the same here under the pretext of student admissions. BJP’s stance is clear – no student’s career should be jeopardized, and no communal divide should be created,” Sethi said.
She emphasized that the BJP has consistently prioritized students’ welfare and communal harmony. “We do not want any admissions to be canceled, and we are ensuring that students are shifted appropriately so their careers are not affected. Congress’s repeated statements to the contrary are nothing but political games. Jammu and Kashmir’s people are aware of Congress’s intentions and will not tolerate religion-based politics,” Sethi added.
The leaders also criticized the local Congress leadership for remaining silent on key issues. “While BJP works to protect merit and ensure equal opportunities for all students, Congress continues to play politics over Hindu-Muslim relations. Their strategy of creating controversies to gain votes will not work anymore,” Chowdhary said.
Both leaders reiterated that BJP’s focus remains on ensuring a fair resolution to the Vaishno Devi Medical College issue and maintaining peace in the region. They urged Congress to refrain from misleading the public and politicizing sensitive matters affecting students and communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
