JAMMU: In alignment with the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his call for building an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), the BJP Mahila Morcha J&K UT, under the dynamic leadership of Adv. Neha Mahajan, President BJP Mahila Morcha J&K, conducted a one-day tour across Vijaypur and Kathua to promote women-led entrepreneurship, traditional craftsmanship, and local innovation.

The tour witnessed three impactful programmes that highlighted the empowerment of local women entrepreneurs and artisans contributing towards the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement. The first visit took place at the Sno Valley Mushroom Farm, located on Gorah Salathian Road, Vijaypur, District Samba. The programme aimed to explore the innovative methods of mushroom cultivation being practiced by local entrepreneurs who are generating livelihood opportunities within their communities.

President Adv. Neha Mahajan was accompanied by senior Mahila Morcha leaders Poonam Gupta, Urvashi Gupta, Prerna Nanda, Santosh Sharma, and Suman Raina. Addressing the gathering, Adv. Neha Mahajan commended the entrepreneurs’ innovative spirit, saying that It is heartening to see how local entrepreneurs are embracing innovation and turning agriculture into a symbol of empowerment and progress. The BJP Mahila Morcha stands firmly with every individual who contributes to building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Prominent BJP leaders including Jai Ram Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Indu Sambyal, Shilpa Dube, Monika Jamwal, Aarti Sharma, and Geeta Bhagat were also present. Continuing the Atmanirbhar mission, the Mahila Morcha team next visited Krishna Millet Restaurant at Village Pathwal, Ward No. 5, Burmal Morh (Dayalachack–Hiranagar Link Road) in District Kathua. The locally owned establishment, run by Pooja Devi, stands as a beacon of determination and self-reliance.

The programme, organized by former District President Sushma Sharma, was graced by Updesh Andotra, District President BJP Kathua, and Akshay, senior BJP leader. The team appreciated the delicious Bajra delicacies, Momos, and Idlis prepared by Pooja Devi, showcasing how local women are blending traditional foods with entrepreneurial innovation.

Mahajan remarked that Every self-reliant woman is a pillar of a self-reliant India. The BJP Mahila Morcha stands firmly with every woman who dares to dream, create, and contribute towards the nation’s growth. The final stop of the tour was Jrai Chowk, Kathua, where the team visited shops run by Kumhar Biradari artisans crafting handmade clay products. This initiative sought to revive traditional art forms and support local craftsmen preserving their ancestral legacy.

Prominent Mahila Morcha members from District Kathua — including Renu Andotra, Meera, and other active women karyakartas — participated enthusiastically, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening rural art and women-led economic activities.

Concluding her one-day tour, Adv. Neha Mahajan emphasized that these initiatives reflect the soul of Prime Minister Modi’s vision — empowering women socially, economically, and politically. She said, Atmanirbhar Bharat derives its real strength from Atmanirbhar Nari. When women become self-reliant, the nation moves closer to self-reliance.

The tour across Vijaypur and Kathua reinforced the BJP Mahila Morcha’s dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs, uplifting traditional artisans, and promoting sustainable livelihoods that strengthen the nation’s economic and social fabric.
