- DC exhorts all departments to work in coordination for smooth conduct of Urs
GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today convened a meeting of officers here in the VC Room of DC office Ganderbal to review the preparations for the Urs of the revered Sufi saint Syed Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari. The six-day event, commencing from August 12 will be marked by special night-long prayers and supplications at the shrine.
At the outset threadbare discussion was held regarding finalization of the arrangements for power supply, adequate safe drinking water supply, firefighting measures, traffic and parking plan, sanitation measures in and around the shrine, health and other related arrangements. Municipal Council Ganderbal was directed to ensure cleanliness in and around the shrine and installation of street lights wherever required and temporary mobile toilets near the shrine.
PDD was directed to ensure round the clock power supply in the area besides availability of genset at the main venue during the Urs days. Similarly, the police and traffic officials were directed to ensure proper security and traffic regulations on routes leading to the shrine where large congregations are expected.
AD FCS&CA was directed to make food grains and other essential commodities available for upcoming Urs. The meeting also finalized the arrangements for conducting cultural programmes, decoration and shyamyana.
The DC impressed that Urs shall be celebrated with great fervor and vigor. He exhorted upon all the departments to work in coordination and ensure all arrangements are put in place on time for smooth conduct of Urs.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; ASP Ganderbal, CPO, CMO, ARTO, EO MCG, Tehsildar Ganderbal, representatives of Qamariya Auqaf Trust and other district and sectoral officers.
