SRINAGAR: As part of the Public outreach program and an initiative by the Government of J&K, Police in Anantnag observed 'Thana Diwas' in all police stations across district.
These events were chaired by the respective jurisdictional Police heads/officers and were attended by esteemed citizens, representatives of the Traders Federation, Auqaf Committees, and transporters. Police officers and officials were also present during these occasions.
During the meetings, participants raised various issues of public importance. The chairing officers assured them that their legitimate grievances related to the police would be addressed as a priority, while those concerning the civil administration would be forwarded to the relevant departments for prompt resolution. Grievances were carefully heard and categorized based on the area of action and jurisdiction.
The chairing officers emphasized that the primary goal of organizing 'Thana Diwas' is to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in policing at the grassroots level and to build public confidence. Participants were encouraged to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order and fostering a crime-free environment in their respective areas. Additionally, participants were urged to collaborate with the police in combating the drug menace and in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements that seek to disrupt the peace.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the Police in organizing such interactive meetings and assured their full support and cooperation in curbing social evils in the community.
