VIJAYPUR (SAMBA): Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today claimed that the people in Jammu Region feel that the Govt has victimized them with its anti-people policies that has given rise to multiple issues, especially unemployment and underdevelopment.
The issues have further aggravated with the supremacy of the bureaucracy that allegedly hampers the projects that benefit the public, said the Former Minister while addressing a meeting at Vijaypur where development and other issues were discussed in threadbare. As per a press release, he demanded the restoration of democratic system in Jammu and Kashmir with the holding of early assembly elections in the erstwhile state, while criticising the bureaucracy for undermining the democratic system.
To discuss the issues confronted by the people, the Former Minister chaired a meeting with the people in Vijaypur where the participants appraised him about the underdevelopment town due to poor response from the concerned authorities. âThe authorities have shown negligible response to the pleas of the general masses to the growing menace of scattered garbage, frequent traffic jam, poor cleanliness, water logging, choked drains, and uprooted lane tiles in the wards / markets of Vijaypur in the absence of proper check from the authorities,â he added.
He also questioned the unreasonable construction of a divider in the middle of the road in Ramgarh that is being objected by the businessmen, and locals because it would cause traffic problems. âThe road is already congested and if the divider is constructed in the middle of the narrow road, it would create a chaotic situation for commuters on the Ramgarh road,â he added.
He said that the anger is brewing among the people in Samba District because of the negligence of the authorities, who have completely failed to do developmental related work. âThe situation has emerged because these officials have no accountability, and no one is questioning their work. Hence, the people are forced to face hardships,â he added.
He said that the people are unhappy with the present Govt because of its anti-people agenda that has victimized Jammu Region by attracting people from outside Jammu and Kashmir. âThe youth are frustrated with no scope of their employment and hence, their social and personal life have been destabilized,â he said, urging for holding of early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to address growing concerns of the people of both the regions.
He said that the people are worried about their future in the absence of an uncertain future in Jammu and Kashmir. âJ&K was known for stable income and the people hardly migrated to other places except kandi areas because the local residents had ample scope to get employment in Govt service and armed forces,â he added.
He demanded that a special recruitment drive should be organized in the border villages along the International Border as well as the Line of Control to recruit the unemployed youth in the Army, JKP and paramilitary forces. He however criticized the Govt for its false narrative and demanded that transparency should be brought in the working of the administration to make them accountable to the public.
